Zik 2.0 Headphones Making Clicking Noises – FIXED

Zik 2.0 Headphones Making Clicking Noises – FIXED

If you get the chance to try out a pair of Parrot Zik 2.0 headphones, you will be equally as eager to get them out of the box and onto your ears.  As soon as I un-boxed them, I plugged them right into the computer.  This is when I heard an awful clicking noise.  I thought for sure I received a defective pair.  I know after spending $400 on a pair of Zik 2.0, I would expect them to NOT be making a clicking noise. After searching online, there was no help in finding a solution.

I decided I must have a defective pair – but, I did something so basic, so simple, that I was kicking my self for not doing it first.  I ASSUMED that the battery was built into these headphones.  I was way wrong, and if I had continued to open the package all the way, I would have seen a battery in the packaging.  I took off the ear pad on the left ear, popped the battery in, and viola, the clicking sound disappeared, and my ‘defective’ headphones are not working as good as new!

I should add, that I am, by no-means, an audiophile but I am very very impressed by the sound of these headphones!

I recommend buying a Parrot Hard Case for Zik Headphones to keep your investment nice and safe, and perhaps a battery backup to boot.

I am pretty excited about this.

When I first heard about Jet.com, I wanted to be involved. It was started by the same guy who started Diapers.com – which, if you don’t know, was sold to Amazon a few years back for beaucoup bucks.  Diapers.com founded the warehousing system used at all Amazon Warehouses today.

The fact that are coming out with something new is very exciting, especially for consumers, because, let’s face it, Amazon has changed the way we shop.

What is Jet.com?

Jet is an e-commerce marketplace launching in early 2015. The company was founded by Marc Lore, founder of Diapers.com, Soap.com, Wag.com and other Quidsi sites.

At Jet we will make use of the latest advancements in technology to create a new shopping experience that will empower customers like never before. Jet will bring unprecedented transparency and efficiencies to the overall e-commerce market, and as a result, will transform the customer experience in a way that, until now, has not been possible.

What I am promoting:

Jet Insiders and why to become one:

Jet Insiders are people who are excited about Jet’s launch. Insiders get a free 6-month membership when they sign up with their email or join through Facebook. We want Jet Insiders to promote us by helping spread the news about Jet! By successfully referring friends to become Jet Insiders, an Insider can move up the ranks and gain access to more Jet benefits.

FIXED: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Loss of Service and touch ID after Update 8.0.1

FIXED: iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus Loss of Service and touch ID after Update 8.0.1

If you are one of the unlucky ‘guinea pigs’ that upgraded to 8.0.1 on your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus & your cell service is now broken (along with the Touch-ID), please follow the following steps to get your phone back in working order.  You MUST have access to a PC or Mac for this to work!

  1. Go to ipswdownloader.com and download the iOS IPSW for 8.0 for your respective model.
  2. On a Mac – Go to iTunes and Option-Click “Check for Update” (For Windows users that is ‘shift-click “Check for Update”‘) –
    1. Select the downloaded 8.0 IPSW and update the phone. It will revert back to 8.0 and cell + touchID will work.

You will not need to backup & re-download all your stuff – it works like a normal upgrade works (with exception to this broken update, obviously!).

If you’re getting “this phone isn’t available for this update,” you’ve selected 8.0.1 which is no longer being signed by apple.  Make you you have downloaded 8.0 for your device and you’ll be good to go following the above steps.

The Best Apple TV Jailbreak Alternative – Matricom G-Box MX2 XBMC/Kodi Box

The Best Apple TV Jailbreak Alternative – Matricom G-Box MX2 XBMC/Kodi Box

As you can tell by most of my other posts, I am a huge proponent for Apple Products.  I own almost one of everything they have released in the last 3 years.  I have a MacBook Pro, iPhone, iPod, Apple TV, and an iMac.  While I don’t need to go into detail as to why I have switched to the Mac-side, I do feel that I need to sway people away from the Apple TV.

The Apple TV is great, don’t get me wrong, but my number one question when people ask me if they should buy an Apple TV is “Why do you want the Apple TV, what are you going to use it for?”

The standard response involves Netflix, Streaming Photos, Playing Music through the TV.  While these are all valid reason for wanting an Apple TV, If you can justify paying $100 to have your pictures and music show up on your TV, by all means, buy it.  But if you are the least bit resourceful, there are much cheaper alternatives to doing the both of these.  If you would like me to go into details on how-to, please ask me, and I will do a comprehensive write up on the issue.

This leads me to why I bought an Apple TV.  I was very much interested in jail-breaking the Apple TV to get XBMC/Kodi (soon to be Kodi) installed on it.  For those of you that don’t know, XBMC/Kodi turns the Apple TV into a powerhouse.  I donated one of my Apple TV’s to my pals house, and they have coined it ‘the magic box’.  XBMC/Kodi allows you to stream EVERYTHING you could imagine straight to your TV.  I’m talking TV shows, Movies, Live PPV UFC, Boxing, XXX, and even network TV streams.

Jailbreaking the Apple TV only works up until the Apple TV 2nd Generationwhich you can see by clicking, it’s going for 3 times the cost of when Apple released it.  This is where being a smart consumer comes into play.

Q: Why do you jailbreak the Apple TV?
A: For the XBMC/Kodi capabilities.

So you want XBMC/Kodi? You don’t need to spend $300 to make it happen.

This is why I recommend the G-Box Midnight MX2 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Dual Core XBMC Streaming Mini HTPC TV Box Player For a little over $100 you can have your XBMC /Kodi on your TV streaming whatever you want in a matter of 10 minutes from power on.

Beats Studio V2 Orange – Beats by Dre Limited Edition Orange Studio Headphones

Beats Studio V2 Orange – Beats by Dre Limited Edition Orange Studio Headphones

Beats Studio in Orange

For a first world dweller, I am a terrible consumer. When I say I’m going shopping, people know I’m going to a second-hand thrift store or dumpster diving for discarded doughnuts. The only time I spend more than $200 is when I’m splurging on myself during the holidays. So it was a pretty big deal when I decided to purchase the Beats By Dre 2.0 Orange Studio Special Edition Over Ear Headphones.

There are two reasons why I decided to do this. The first is I got sick of continually buying new headphones. Prior to buying the Orange Beats Studio Headphones, I had always opted for the Sony Over Ear Swivel Earcups Headphones, which are only $20. I spend a lot of time sitting in front of a computer each day and without music, my day would be very mundane. I consistently need something to block out vapid conversations and petty arguments to retain my sanity. The Sony headphones weren’t noise-isolating, but they worked well enough in preventing me from turning into a profanity-laced, spit-screaming Hulk. In a span of two years, I’ve had to buy three pairs, as they’ve snapped at the middle of the headband during transport.

The second reason is my girlfriend and I recently split, so I decided to buy myself something nice and expensive to feel better. It worked, as I was overjoyed by the beauty of the bright, orange color as soon as I opened the box. The headphones’ overall design was smooth, sleek and they felt light in my hands. As soon as I put them on my head, the earcups cushioned comfortably against my ears.

After strutting around the house with my brand, new toy, I finally plugged the Beats Nike Orange Studio headphones into my music player to test the sound. I broke them in with some new Avicii. The first thing I noticed was a dominant bass response. There was definitely a punch on drum beats and bass lines, but I didn’t feel like I was being beaten over the head with it. The LeBron James Headphones also do pretty well in vocal reproduction. Whenever my playlist shuffled to something ska, I was impressed by the way my Studio was able to render dark horn sounds with a well-rounded richness.

This is the first time I’ve ever owned proper noise-cancelling headphones, so I was ecstatic when I discovered I could hear nothing outside my audio world. The headphones also have the added bonus of coming with a case and tangle-resistant cables, which is ideal for clumsy, disorganized people like me, who consistently end up spending a good amount of time untangling oneself out of things.

All in all, I highly recommend them for personal use, or as a great gift for the holidays. Take a peak for more info.

iOS 7 iMessages Sending Out From My e-Mail Address

iOS 7 iMessages Sending Out From My e-Mail Address

So you’ve just updated your iPhone to the newest version of it’s operating system, iOS7.  All of your friends and family are selling you they are receiving your iMessages from your email address.  Odds are, when you were going through the prompts to start using iOS7, you completely skimmed over all of the prompts it was asking you for.  One of these sections pertained to iMessages, and the ways you can communicate through it.  Fortunately, this is a very easy fix.

How to fix:

  • Go into Settings and Click into the Messages Settings:
iOS 7 Messages sending from e-mail
  • Scroll down and tap into the ‘Send & Reeceive’ section:
    Send & Receive Settiing iOS7
  • Once you are here, this shows you all of the different ways someone can send you an iMessage.  It also lets you control whom your outgoing iOS7 iMessages will come from.  Whether it’s your e-mail address, or your cell phone number, this is where you’d make that change.
    Choose the correct outgoing setting.
  • Under the ‘Start New Conversations From’ – make sure you select your cell phone number.

There you have it.  I hope you are able to fix your iMessage issue in iOS7 so that it does not send from your e-mail address and sends from your phone number.

Sony PS3 Problem after update to 4.45 Firmware [FIX]

Sony PS3 Problem after update to 4.45 Firmware [FIX]

If your PS3 is bricked like mine, you can fix it yourself.

You need to boot into safe mode and re-update the firmware.
To access safe mode:

  • Power off the ps3
  • Hold down the ‘power on key’ until the system has powered up & down three times. (Do not release the power key until the third power up)
    1. Touch and hold the Power button (do not remove your finger from the button). You will hear the first beep, meaning the PlayStation 3 is powering on.
    2. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep, indicating the video reset.
    3. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a third beep and the system will power off (Power light is red).
    4. Lift your finger and again touch and hold the Power button (again, do not remove your finger from the button). As in Step 1, you will hear the first beep, again for the PlayStation 3 to power on.
    5. Continue to hold the Power button and after about 5 seconds, you will hear a second beep for video reset.
    6. Continue to hold the Power button and after about another 5 seconds you will hear a quick double beep. At that point release the Power button. If you succeeded in activating Safe Mode, you will see a message on the screen saying, “Connect the controller using a USB cable and then press the PS button.”
  • In Safe Mode, you will have the following options:
    1. Restart System – Ends safe mode and restarts the PlayStation 3 normally.
    2. Restore Default Settings – Performs the same operations as [Restore Default Settings] on the XMB, and also deletes Sony Entertainment Network account information from the system.
    3. Restore File System – Attempts to repair all areas on the hard disk drive where files can be saved. Corrupted data may be erased if it cannot be recovered.
    4. Rebuild Database – Deletes messages, playlists, changes made on [Information] screens, trimming information for pictures in [Photo], video thumbnails, video playback history and video resume information.
This operation may take a long time depending on the type and number of data items.
    5. Restore PS3 SystemIMPORTANT: All data and settings will be lost by performing this step.
This will reformat the hard drive on the PlayStation 3, deleting all data and restoring it to as if it just came out of the box. This is the same as [Restore PS3 system] on the XMB.
    6. System Update – Updates the PS3 system software. This can only be done with an update file already saved on external storage media, such as a USB drive.

Perform the System Update and you should be good to go!
